Growing up as kids, we used to love playing with this stuff. Even though our kids, now have access to electronic toys and games, somehow they still have a lot of fun playing with this stuff. A few years back, I took it upon myself to learn how to make my very own homemade play dough. In today’s post, I will be sharing that recipe.
I do have a lot of fun with my girls when we try these random diy kids craft ideas. It is important though, to always make sure that whatever ingredients your are using are safe for your kids. This particular one uses 6 edible ingredients, which can be found in most kitchens out there. If you want to make more play dough, you can simply double or triple the quantities.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- 1 cup iodized salt
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tablespoon cream of tartar
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- 1 cup water
- food coloring
- ziploc bags
Step By Step Instructions
Step 1.
Add the dry ingredients to your saucepan,
stir to blend everything together.
Step 2.
Add your water, followed by the coconut oil.
Step 3.
Stir and cook on medium heat for 2 minute
until you are left with a stick dough.
Step 4.
Divide the dough into ziploc bags, and drop
a few drops of food coloring into each bag.
Step 5.
Zip the bag shut and squish it in between your
palms until the dough inside is evenly colored.
Didn’t I tell you it was super easy to make your own? You can experiment with colors too, I would mix in a few drops of two or more different ones, to make your own unique colors. As far as storage is concerned, just zip up the bags and store inside your fridge. There is also a no cook version, without cream of tartar, check out the video below! 🙂
