During the winter months we tend to spend less hours gardening, so that allows a little time for us to experiment and have some fun. In the past we have successfully pulled off making homemade pizza sauce recipe and the  homemade egg rolls recipe. Yesterday I tried my luck at making this homemade doritos recipe.

What I found interesting was that to get to the doritos, I had to first make some tortilla chips. Thank goodness that was not a complicated process at all. I burnt a few, but hey these things happen so no need to stress. I love the taste of the homemade version, maybe I am a little biased since I was the one who made them.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

• soft corn tortillas
• sunflower oil
• pastry brush
• cutting board
• baking sheet
• hidden valley ranch mix
• cheese powder
• garlic salt
• onion powder
• salt
• large ziploc
• spray bottle
• knife

So as mentioned above, before we can make the doritos, you have to first make the tortilla chips. I started coating the tortillas with some sunflower oil. Layed them on top of each other, I didnt make the layers too thick as it makes it harde to slice through them. After placing them on the baking sheet they went into the oven for about 10 minutes at 350 degrees.

Whilst they were in the oven I started working on the coating, which is just a mixture of all the dry ingredients in a small bowl. The chips are ready when they are lightly brown, I let mine darken and ended up burning a few in the process. Spraying a little oil on the chips helps with getting the coating to stick on them. I used a ziploc bag with two teaspoons of the Cool Ranch mix for the coating process. A few shakes & hello Doritos! 🙂
