Guess what? There is no Pizza Hut home delivery out here on the homestead. So when we feel for some pizza, we actually have to make it ourselves. For baking the pizza we use the diy $5 pizza oven, which makes some delicious pizza. For the sauce, I use this homemade pizza sauce recipe.
This recipe is not only easy to make, but unlike many others it only requires 35 minutes cooking time. The ingredients list is pretty long, as it requires 9 ingredients. However it is nothing that you do not already have in your kitchen anyway. This sauce can be used on top of any pizza you want to make.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- fresh or canned tomatoes
- olive oil
- onions
- oregano
- dried basil
- garlic
- granulated sugar
- red pepper flakes
- large bowl
- medium sauce pan
- air tight container (optional)
- immersion blender (optional)
- knife
- cutting board
- salt
In order to save some time, I always do all the prep work which mainly involves chopping stuff before I start. Also I prefer the chunkier version, so the chopping always ends up chunky too. Fresh tomatoes are always best to use, especially if you they are in season.
Starting with the olive oil, you add everything else except the tomatoes, salt and sugar to the saucepan. That cooks for up to 4 minutes, before you can add the garlic. After a minute you can then add the tomatoes, salt and sugar. Leave to simmer on medium heat for up to 30 minutes.
Your sauce is ready for use. Any left overs can be stored for 7 days in the fridge or 3 months in the freezer.
