You know your cooking needs those fresh herbs, this is why a herb garden is not a want but a need in every kitchen. I have featured many different types of herb gardens in previous posts, however today we will look at this diy egg carton herb garden.
What I love about this one is that not only is it small and portable, it takes up very little space but still produces enough herbs for my cooking. It also will not cost you a single cent to make, unless of course you are buying your seeds. We just used our own harvested seeds, its cheaper that way.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- empty egg carton
- eggshells (halves)
- organic potting soil
- organic herb seeds
- scissors or utility knife
You will only need half of your egg carton, so use the scissors to cut of the top lid. Once cut off you can place your eggshell halves into each of the individual egg holders. The next step can be a bit messy, as you fill up the eggshell halves up with potting soil. I had help with this part, I called in my girls to join mummy in some gardening fun.
With the soil in the eggshells, it is now time to plant your seeds. Make sure to label each one, so you know which is which when it is time to harvest the herbs. Water your herb garden daily and place it in a location that receives a lot of sunshine, like your window sill. Your patio, or your balcony would work well too.
