How To Regrow Romaine Lettuce

It is not secret that I love to spend a lot of time in my gardening growing a lot of different vegetables, fruits and herbs. Lettuce is one of my favorite things to grow, it’s pretty easy to grow. Last week I learnt how to regrow romaine lettuce from the stump.

Yes, lettuce it is one of those vegetables like green onions that you can regrow in water. Which is really cool because it allows you to have a second crop, without most of the hassle.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • fresh organic romaine lettuce with stump
  • small glass bowl
  • knife
  • water

For this to work, you have to make sure you either use romaine lettuce fresh out of your garden or organic lettuce from a farmers market. It is very important that the head of the lettuce is still attached to the stem or stump.

Use the knife to cut off the leaves leaving the stump behind. Then simply place the stump in at least half an inch of water in a small glass bowl next to a window that receives a lot of sunlight. Keep the water level at least half an inch, and change the water if it starts to smell. Within 3 to 4 weeks you should have more leaves ready to harvest.
