Here’s What You’ll Need:

If you live in the cooler areas, you can direct plant your seeds into your beds in early spring. Recommended spacing is about 6 inches apart, pushing the seeds a quarter inch into the ground. The rows should be between 12 to 18 inches apart. Allow up to 21 days for seeds to germinate. The ideal growing temperature is 60 to 70 degrees F.

For those who live in the warmer climates, planting in late summer or early fall is recommended. It will take one and half to two months for the cabbage to be ready for harvest. When you feel the heads, any solid ones are ready to pick. You will probably enjoy it more while it is fresh, however you can also freeze it for long term storage.
