With Summer officially a month away, now is the perfect time to start planning those patio projects. Sprucing up our patio is something that I have always enjoyed. Last year we built this diy patio side table, this diy wood pallet outdoor table and this diy outdoor cabana lounge. I recently ran into this diy concrete top outdoor coffee table on Pinterest and I think it would be a great addition to our patio this year.
Most diy coffee table projects, only require wood for construction. This project however, is a little different in that it has a concrete table top. Thank God for those quick mixes that are now available at most hardware shops. Just utilizing those alone can save you quite a lot of time and energy. I would say this project is more for the intermediate to expert do it yourselfers, especially as far as the power tools are concerned. We’re lucky over here we have the hubby, who is our resident ‘expert’. Shhhhh… don’t tell him I said that. LOL.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
- 12″ dual bevel miter saw
- Gen5X 18v 5pc toolkit
- 18v orbital sander
- pocket hole jig
- face clamp
- tablesaw or circular saw
- bolt cutters
- concrete trowel
- hoe or shovel
- 8′ 2×4 cedar boards
- 4’x4′ 3/4″ melamine sheet
- Quikrete countertop mix
- wire mesh rebar
- 2-1/2″ exterior pocket hole screws
- outdoor spar urethane
- 1″ rubber feet
- silicone caulk
- concrete sealer
This project begins with the table base, that is constructed using the cedar 2×4’s. That includes everything from the sides, lower stretcher as well as the table top support. Next you prep the form for the concrete table top, before molding the table top using the countertop mix. When the table top is ready, the final stage of the project can begin which is the assembly process and any other finishing touches. It is also recommended that you attach rubber feet to the base, in order to elevate the table from the ground.
