How To Make Butter From Powdered Milk

We all know you can make butter from normal milk, I just found out today that you can make homemade butter from powdered milk too.  Thanks to the curiosity of Gwen, she was determined to make some even though most powdered milk is actually non-fat. The recipe itself seems pretty easy enough, if you have all the ingredients needed.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • powdered milk
  • water
  • oil (coconut, olive, sunflower, etc).
  • food processor
  • yellow food coloring (optional)
  • salt (optional)
  • butter flavoring (optional)

The three main ingredients for his recipe are the powdered milk, the water and the oil. There are all mixed together in the food processor and then left to blend until the mixture is thick enough like butter. The other optional ingredients are then added to give the butter flavor and coloring.

I wonder if you do not have access to a food processor, if you could manually create this butter by beating the ingredients in a mixing bowl. Or maybe a whisk. It would be something worth a try if I have ever the time! This recipe will make about 3/4 cup of butter! 🙂
