DIY Hanging Lettuce Leaf Basket

Did you know that Lettuce leaf is one of the easiest vegetables to grow. Even if you have very limited space you can still grow your own in these diy hanging lettuce leaf baskets.

You can hang these on your porch or balcony, starting in early spring. Apparently lettuce can easily handle colder temperatures, unlike most other vegetables.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • lettuce seeds or seedlings
  • liquid organic fertilizer
  • potting mix
  • used colander
  • chains, twine or wire

If you are using seeds, always refer to the back of the packet for instructions for that variety. Some varieties need to be thinned out in order to produce bigger leaves. Seeds can be planted in a circular pattern or in rows in the basket.

Instead of a colander you can be creative with your basket. Just make sure that the container you used has holes for drainage. Your lettuce should be ready for harvest in 4 to 6 weeks, remove the outer leaves and use them as needed.
