DIY Hanging Soda Bottle Planter

I don’t remember the last time, I shared a simple repurposing project with you guys on here. It may have been the diy 2L soda bottle garden or was it the diy plastic bottle vertical garden? Regardless, it was about time we took on one, and I though this diy hanging soda bottle planter would be perfect.

Save a few of those empty soda bottles, we will be re-purposing them to make these eco-friendly planters. You can use them to plant any small plants, especially herbs. Just hang them on the patio or balcony so that they get the sunlight they need in order to thrive. This is an easy project that takes a total of about 15 minutes for each planter.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • empty plastic soda bottle
  • permanent marker
  • utility knife or scissors
  • rope or string
  • potting soil
  • plants

My high school art lessons are going came handy, as you will be required to trace on two windows on opposite sides onto the plastic bottle itself. It does not have to be perfect, however it does look a lot better when your windows are ‘pretty’. You may want to use a template, like I did.

When the time comes to cut out your windows, the utility knife makes the job a lot easier than the scissors. It only has one blade, just make sure it is a sharp one. The rope or string will also need a few holes in the mouth of the bottle, that you can thread it through and use it to hang your planter.
