DIY Fogger Aeroponic System

When Fall comes it is beautiful seeing all the leaves change colors, however it sucks that the gardening season has to come to an end. Unless of course you have a green house or are planning on doing some winter gardening. You could also try this diy fogger aeroponic system.

It is basically a very affordable simpler version of the more complicated hydroponic systems. You do not need any soil to grow plants such as your herbs, strawberries, peppers and cherry tomatoes. Total cost to build this project is only about $15 .

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • dark plastic tub with lid
  • hole saw
  • hand drill
  • empty yogurt cups
  • duct tape
  • pond fogger
  • perlite
  • water
  • liquid fertilizer
  •  epsom salt
  • plants or seeds
  • utility knife (optional)
  • soldering iron (optional)

The first step involves drilling or cutting out the holes on the lid, that the yogurt cups will sit in. Your cups also have to be cut out with 1/4 inch gaps that will allow the water and the nutrients in, whilst holding the perlite inside.

Perlite should be filled almost to the top of each cup, allowing for expansion. The fogger is installed and placed into the tub with half an inch of water above it. The liquid fertilizer and any other nutrients are added to the water in the system. It is a simple system, that does not cost an arm and an leg to set up.
