If you have grown onions before, you know how easy it is to achieve a bumper harvest. In most cases when paired with other plants, these plants have more to gain than the onions themselves. Their major benefit is the smell that they give off, which provides protection for the companion plants. I have recently started paying attention to pairing plants, after seeing the results first hand.

1. Carrots – they grow at a different depth & also do well in tight spaces.
2. Chamomile – help improve the flavor of your onions.
3. Cabbage – this includes Broccoli, Cauliflower, Brussels Sprouts and more.
4. Lettuce – roots are at different depths, hence no competition for space.
5. Leeks – they help protect from onion flies.
