Get ready I am just about to get rid of any excuses you may have, for not growing brussels sprouts in your garden. After having successfully experimented with growing spinach in pots as well as growing kale in containers. This past season, I decided to try something new and ended up learning how to grow brussels sprouts in pots.
Honestly, my success with container gardening continues to surpass my expectations. Unlike most other gardeners, I do not have a shortage of space at all. When it comes to veggies that you can grow in pots, brussels sprouts are probably one of the most suited as they grow vertically. They are a cool weather crop, try to plant in early summer or spring to avoid the warmer temperatures.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
- brussels sprout seedlings
- 12″ container
- potting soil
- 14-14-14 slow-release fertilizer
- 15-30-15 soluble fertilizer
- shears
Prepare your containers before planting the seedlings by mixing your potting soil and slow release fertilizer. After which, you give the soil a good watering and allow the extra water to drain out the bottom. Only then can you plant your seedling and move the pot to a location that gets at least 8 hours of sunlight every single day.
Water your pots whenever the top inch of soil becomes dry, this may have to be daily especially when the warm weather arrives. The first application of the soluble fertilizer is six weeks after transplanting, then every two weeks after that. The sprouts should be ready for harvest 90 days after transplant, they should be about an inch or two in diameter.
