Homemade Teriyaki Sauce Recipe

From the post title, you already know what time it is. Yes indeed, we are going to be adding to our ever growing list of homemade condiments. This is one of those sauces that you can basically put on anything if you enjoy teriyaki sauce. It goes well on fish, rice, veggies, chicken and more. This recipe only requires 6 basic ingredients, that you probably already have in your kitchen or pantry. Preparation time is only 10 minutes, so lets get to it.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • cold water
  • packed brown sugar
  • soy sauce
  • garlic powder
  • corn starch
  • sesame oil
  • medium sized mixing bowl
  • measuring cup
  • glass bottle
  • large skillet
  • whisk
  • mason jar

Ok, ready or not here we go time yourself to make this more fun. Start by adding the water, followed by the soy sauce into the mixing bowl. Then you add the brown sugar and the garlic powder and the corn starch. Grab your whisk and start whisking until you have managed to successfully get rid of any clumps and fully dissolve the cornstarch.

It’s time to add the sesame oil, before giving it a good stir as well. Naturally the oil will raise to the top but that is a temporary problem. You know that oil and water do not mix right? lol Bring out the large skillet and pour in all the contents of the mixing bowl. Gently heat up over medium heat until the sauce changes color and thickens. Remove from the heat, and either use immediately or store in your fridge for up to 7 days.
