DIY PVC Portable Chair

Most of the time around here the projects that we take on are supposed to help improve our standard of living on the homestead. We try our best to include some projects for our kids for example the homemade bubbles and the homemade fudgesicles. Now we can add these diy PVC portable chairs, to the list.

This project is pretty easy, the hardest part will probably be cutting your PVC pipe to the required lengths. It is also an affordable project, since besides the PVC the only other required material is some sort of heavy duty cloth that is either the same strength or stronger than canvas, such as ripstop nylon.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • heavy duty canvas or ripstop nylon
  • pvc pipe
  • pvc elbows
  • bolts
  • nuts
  • miter saw
  • safety googles
  • measuring tape
  • sewing machine
  • hand drill
  • heavy duty scissors

Once you have identified the material you will be using for the seat, measure it, cut it and then sew casings on both ends that allow your pvc pipe to slip through. The next step is to cut your PVC pipe into all the different lengths, that you will need.

Use the hand drill to drill holes in the center of all your leg pieces. When assembling remember that one side is 7 inches wide and the other 10 inches. The hole in the middle is threaded with a bolt and a nut is screwed in to hold everything in place. Our girls love their new chairs, I am sure your kids will love theirs too. 🙂
