DIY Plastic Fruit Protector

I think the last time we featured these useful empty containers on this blog, was when were were talking about these diy mini green houses. Today, I am very excited to share yet another useful gardening tip, with these diy plastic fruit protectors.

Now you can protect the fruit in your orchard from the various predators out there. All this can be achieved by reusing empty plastic produce boxes, the kind that they pack the fruit you find grocery stores. Besides using this method to protect fruits like mangoes, you could also try using it in your garden to protect your tomatoes.

DIY Plastic Fruit Protector

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • empty plastic fruit containers
  • elastic bands (optional)

Step By Step Instructions

Step 1.

Wash the inside of the containers.

Step 2.

Place the container over the fruit
and carefully close the container.

That’s all there is it to it. Now the fruit will still be exposed to sunlight but will be protected from the birds and the squirrels. You can use elastic bands to hold the lids shut. When it is harvesting time, simply open the containers to get access to the fruit. You probably can’t protect the whole tree, but the few that you do are worth it. Especially if they are at risk of being attacked by those little buggers.
