I know you are probably thinking, don’t ducks float? Umm, yes they do but that does not mean we cannot treat them with this diy floating duck house too? Do you remember the diy cable spool duck house and the sdiy duck pond filter and shower projects a few months back. Well today, we shall be taking on yet another duck project. Yay!
There is nothing wrong with trying out different duck houses, for your homestead. What I love about this particular one, is the fact that it floats. That however brings up other challenges such as finding wood that can withstand being exposed to water for extended periods of time. At the same time the wood has to be lightweight and of course affordable.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
- pine wood
- thermoset foam board
- stainless steel hook
- miter saw
- hand held drill
- tape measure
- marker
- wood screws
- clamps
For this project, the duck house itself is built separately from the flat tray. You can start with either one, with the float tray being the easier of the two. Use the provided plans to measure and make your required cuts. Then you can start assembling everything as instructed. This duck house will never float away even in a large water body, this because it is anchored to the bottom.
