Homemade Ice Cream Cones

When summer comes along, besides the warm or often hot weather, the other thing on our minds is ice cream. It is ok to eat it directly from the tub or even use a small bowl, but ice cream never tastes as good as from these homemade ice cream cones, I make for my own family.

My mum used to make these for us and she shared this simple recipe with me. If you make your own homemade ice cream, it will go down well with these too. I love how these are made from basic ingredients, that you can find in almost any kitchen at any single time.

Homemade Ice Cream Cones Recipe

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 1/3 cup all purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • large bowl
  • whisk
  • small skillet or griddle
  • wire rack

Step By Step Instructions

Step 1.

Pull out the large bowl and whisk your sugar and eggs in there
until they reach a frothy texture.

Step 2.

Next add the milk, then the vanilla and the butter.

Step 3.

The flour and the salt follow, you should have a smooth batter.

Step 4.

Place your lightly oil brushed skillet on medium heat.

Step 5.

A 1/4 cup at a time pour some batter into the skillet, making
sure that you thin it out into a circle each time.

Step 6.

Cook until golden brown underneath, before flipping and cooking
the other side too.

Step 7.

Remove from the skillet, and roll into a cone while still hot.
Don’t forget to pinch the bottom end to seal the cone.

Step 8.

Leave out on the wire rack to cool and harden.

After your cones have cooled down, I would recommend that you enjoy some ice cream straight away whilst they are still fresh. Nevertheless, you can still store them in an air tight container and enjoy them later. We love these, I hope you do too. Enjoy! 🙂
