DIY Self-Watering Seed Starter Pots

Don’t you hate it when you plant some seeds or seedlings then you forget to water them, and the worst thing happens, they dry out? Well from today onwards you may never have to worry about that anymore if you plant your seeds in these self watering seed starter pots.

You can make these yourself from re-purposed 2L plastic soda bottles. Your seedlings will have a better chance of survival as you can forget to water the pots, and they will just simply water themselves.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

– 2L Plastic Soda Bottle
– Potting soil
– Thick string or yarn
– Seeds
– Screwdriver
– Hammer
– A sharp blade

They are easy to assemble, you can make this a family projects with your kids. The first step is to cut the bottles in half, then you punch a hole in the bottle cap before threading the string through the hole. The threaded top can be screwed back onto the bottle after which you place the top half of the bottle upside down into the bottom half you are done.

All you have left to do is add soil, plant your seeds and water  your seeds. After the first watering, you only need to put water in the base section and the soil will magically itself drawing from that reservoir.
