DIY Laundry Detergent Bottle Watering Can

Gardening can be lotsa fun, but can also be expensive especially if you are buying all your tools and gardening essentials. I always try to find things around the house that I can recycle or repurpose, in an attempt to keep those costs as low as possible. One great idea, that I adopted myself and works like a charm is a do it yourself plastic laundry detergent watering can.

There’s no need to go out and purchase a watering can, this will do just as good a job and it is ‘free’. If you don’t have an empty laundry bottle lying around, you could probably use any other plastic bottle you can find.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Plastic laundry detergent bottle
  • Drill
  • Knife or cutter

The majority of the time for this project is spent drilling small holes in the bottle cap. Once you have done that you are pretty much done and ready to use your new watering can.

Make sure that you are using a clean bottle, therefore take the time to wash it and rinse out any chemicals that may have been stored in the bottle. You do not want to water your plants with water mixed with laundry detergent do you? I know you don’t!
