My little girls love strawberries, in fact the whole family does. Every season we always make sure that we have some growing and try to add even more. Remember the diy strawberry pyramid and the strawberry ebucket we built a couple of years back? Well I ran into an even easier solution this morning this diy laundry basket strawberry planter.
It is exactly what the name suggests, a strawberry planter made from a plastic laundry basket that you can pick up at your local Walmart for less than 6 bucks. You can even just reuse an old one, which is what I did. Same for the burlap sack too, you can usually get those for free all over the place.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
- strawberry plants
- laundry basket
- burlap sack
- drill
- potting soil
- scissors
- flowers or vegetables (optional)
Step By Step Instructions:
Step 1.
Drill one or two holes on the bottom for drainage.
Step 2.
Line the interior with your burlap sack, the same
way you would line a garbage can with a trash bag.
Step 3.
Fill the basket with your potting soil.
Step 4.
Cut the excess burlap around the edges of the planter.
Step 5.
Cut holes around the sides and the front in which you
are going to plant your strawberries.
Step 6.
Plant your strawberries in the holes you created, make
sure to try space them out as much as possible.
Step 7.
You can plant other plants, flowers and vegetables in
the top part of the basket, totally up to you.
Once your planter is done, make sure you move it into an area that receives a lot of sunshine. We only put holes in the front and sides as the planter is set against our garden shed. However if you can find an area that it does not lean against anything, you can plant more strawberries all the way around. Do not forget to keep your planter well watered (I guess that goes without saying!)
