I had a little extra time time this afternoon to prepare Sunday dinner, so I decided to try something new. Today’s experiment involved this homemade pasta recipe I found on Youtube. I ran into a few other recipes that required some special machines and equipment like food processors and even pasta machines. However, I personally do not have any of these in my home kitchen. Well, if like me you do not have these, then do not worry. You can still make your own pasta at home with no machines.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- 1 or 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 cup semolina flour (optional)
- a pinch of salt
- 3 eggs
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 tbsp water
The semolina flour in this recipe is optional. If you only have all purpose flour, that is ok. Semolina flour apparently is loaded with gluten, which helps the pasta dough stretch without breaking. Mix the dry ingredients first, before creating a well in the middle, where you put all the liquid ingredients. Then you gently mix them into the dry ones using a fork until the dough is not too wet to handle.
The next step would be the ‘hard’ part, kneading the dough for about 15 minutes. After which cover the dough with plastic wrap and leave it on the kitchen counter at room temperature for about an hour. You want to allow the homemade pasta dough to relax, so that it is easier to handle. You can go ahead and roll it out very thinly and then cut it into your desired shapes and sizes. You can make any type of pasta from this recipe. Use your imagination, go wild. Homemade pasta can be stored in your refrigerator for about a week. ( P.S. I looove the energy of the young lady in the video, you can read her Dulce Delight blog here!)
