Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • wood or bamboo poles
  • string or wire
  • bean plants or seeds
  • sharp knife
  • saw

If you know where your poles are going to be or if you can just plant your beans evenly in a circle, then you can plant the beans before setting up the teepees. Otherwise, grab about four to five poles per teepee. Push the bottom ends into the ground and tie the tops together.

The taller your poles the higher your beans can grow before they run out of space. The recommended height is about six to seven feet tall. If you put notches in your poles, they will help you keep the string or wire in place. Don’t forget to train and guide your bean plants up the teepee as they grow.
