How To Preserve Nuts In Jars

If you have any type of nuts, then you can go ahead and use this method for preserving them. We successfully grew some peanuts and hazelnuts in our garden this year, but you can also use it for pecans. So how do you preserve dried nuts in canning jars?

I love this method, simply because it is super easy and takes a few minutes to get these jars sealed. I don’t have a microwave in my kitchen, but I have since discovered that using the oven gets the job done too.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • nuts
  • canning jars
  • large pot
  • water
  • kitchen towel

Make sure you sterilize your jars, as well as your lids before you pack them with your nuts. All you have to do is boil them for at least 10 minutes. Sit them down upside down on the folded kitchen towel on your counter and allow them to completely dry.

Pack each jar with nuts, leaving about an inch of space below the rim. The jars have to be heated up in order for them to seal properly. Place them for a few minutes in your oven or microwave. Remove and immediately screw on the lids tightly. Wait for the ‘pop’ to make sure your jar has sealed.
