Homemade Teat Wash For Goats & Cows

One of the advantages of raising cows or goats on the homestead, is the daily fresh milk. Nowadays we seem to be getting more milk from our goats since I took the time to learn how to milk goats. Today I would love to share this homemade teat wash for goats as well as cows, with you.

I love this one simply because it does not contain any bleach, which can be hard on the animals. Importantly, it still has anti bacterial, anti fungal and anti viral properties. Also, this wash gets the job done as far as killing bacteria and preventing the onset of mastitis. Instead of using harsh chemicals, the homemade wash contains two all natural and safe essential oils.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Measure out your essential oils and add them to your spray bottle. Before filling up your spray bottle with warm water, add the castile soap. Screw on the top tightly and give the bottle a good shake. I shake it for at least 3 minutes, just to make sure everything is mixed well.

How to use the wash? You will need to spray it on at least two times. The first spray is before you begin milking your goat or cow. Make sure you wipe the udder and teats with a clean rag, then start milking. After you are done, give them yet another quick spray. Happy milking! 🙂
