DIY Wine Cork Plant Markers

When you are gardening sometimes you can end up with a few herbs or vegetables in one area or bed. I have found out the hard way that labelling at planting will make your life easier when they are ready to be harvested. I have used many different plant markers before but I really think these diy wine cork plant markers are cute.

These are really simple to make and it is also a great upcycle project. You may need help with wine drinking or if you enjoy a glass of wine per day like I do, it is only a matter of time before you have collected enough corks to make your plant markers.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • wine corks
  • wood skewers
  • sharpie or markers

As already mentioned above these markers are very easy to make. It is just a matter of picking up a cork and sticking a skewer into it. Then you can take a sharpie or marker and write the name of the herb or vegetable on the cork. That is pretty much it, you can then stick the marker into the garden bed or container.

There are several variations to the simple plant marker in the picture. For instance you can use different color sharpies or markers for each one. Also you can label the cork even before sticking a skewer into the cork. Just make sure you do not insert the skewer too deep, or you risk splitting the cork in half.
