If you have a problem with space as well as invading grass in your garden, then I may have just solved your problem. We have built other trellises and raised garden beds in the past but we never thought to combine the two. When you do that you get this diy trellis raised garden box.

I know, I know just by looking at the pictures, you would think this is a complicated project. However, it is actually an easy and fun project for the whole family. Some of the materials, you may have to make a quick dash to your local hardware store. Or do as I always do, find something lying around that you can re-purpose.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

• plywood
• star bit
• deck screws
• drill bit
• cattle farm panels
• u-nails
• hammer
• tape measure
• marker
• handheld drill

Lay out your lumber, and mark your cuts for the boxes. Then drill the holes you will need to attach your planks together using the deck screws and the star bits in order to build the boxes. Ideally you build 4 boxes, however each side will end up with two boxes in order to make your raised garden bed double deep.

Drilling a deck screw at an angle, will allow you to attach the two boxes, one on top of the other. It took a few tries, but I finally got the hang of it. Oh my then it came to bending the cattle panels, the hubby kept complaining I wasn’t doing anything and yet I was giving it all my strength. The panels are attached to the bottom of the boxes, using the u-nails and a hammer. That’s it you’re done! 🙂
