DIY Rain Water Barrel Stand

Luckily just this past year we tried this diy PVC well drilling and managed to hit water. That water source is still not as reliable, so we are still using various water barrel systems to catch as much rainfall as we can. I am looking at building this diy water barrel stand, for these two stand alone 55 gallon barrels.

You know by now I always tend to lean towards the simple and easy to do projects. Not forgetting affordability. This project falls right into that category, looking at the plans it looks more like playing with building blocks. lol

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 55 gallon water barrel
  • 2×4 lumber
  • plywood boards
  • teflon tape
  • wood crews
  • hose bib
  • bung
  • drill
  • circular saw
  • bung wrench

To get started you want to cut the notches that the individual uprights for both the front and the back need in order to assemble the rack. The plans have detailed illustrations that show you where each notch goes, so that certainley takes the guesswork out of it.

When you have erected the uprights, you can the screw on the plywood boards. Then you can move on to attaching the hose bibs(faucets) on the barrels. This stand holds should be able to hold two 500 lbs barrels of water, so make sure it’s cery sturdy.
