A nice frozen dessert, anyone? It’s always good when you can whip up simple fresh healthy desserts, like this strawberry sorbet recipe. We probably haven’t featured as many homemade sorbet recipes, as we should on this blog. Hopefully I will be able to add more of these in the future. For this recipe you have the flexibility of using whatever type of sugar you enjoy be it white sugar, pure maple syrup or even sweeteners such as xylitol.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- strawberries
- sugar of choice
- lemon juice or zest of lemon
- high speed blender
- regular blender (optional)
- ice cream machine (optional)
- salt (optional)
- strainer
I really prefer to use frozen berries for this recipe, in which case the only prep that’s needed is removing the stems if there are any. Otherwise, if you choose to use fresh berries, the first thing you have to do is freeze them.
Then you dump your strawberries into your high speed blender, add the lemon zest or juice and turn it on. Ideally you want to blend until the mixture is a smooth sorbet like mixture. However, if using a regular blender, you have to allow the berries to thaw before blending and transferring the mixture to your ice cream machine.
