How To Make A Cheese Press

Not all cheese needs to be pressed, however if it does there is no need to panic, you can make your own diy cheese press. We have actually looked at how to make a few cheeses in previous posts on this blog. Just search for posts like, how to make farmer’s cheese, how to make Parmesan cheese and also how to make coby cheese.

This is one of the simpler homemade cheese press designs. It is made from very basic materials which are available in any local hardware store. What I love about this particular one is that it can easily be disassembled for cleaning and storage. If you have never used one of these before, you should probably check out some videos on Youtube for guidance.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

The PVC pipe will need a bunch of holes drilled evenly around the bottom section. While you are still holding onto the drill, use it to make the two holes in the sheet for the rods on either side of the PVC pipe. The rods are attached to the sheet using the nut and washers. Next are the holes in the wood.

With the drilling done, you can move on to assembling the press. There are so many nuts and washers, as well as loose things like the springs that will need to be assembled. At first it may seem like a daunting task, however if you just follow the step by step instructions to the tee, you shouldn’t have any problems.
