When you live out in the woods, things like spiders are almost a common daily occurrence. That does not mean you have to like them though, my daughter is terrified of these things. We have made homemade mosquito repellent before, so I thought we could try this homemade spider repellent recipe.
There is one secret ingredient to this recipe, the so called spider kryptonite. They absolutely hate this one thing. The recipe requires you to dilute this ingredient with water, but I have found that with stubborn spiders, the non-diluted version is more potent.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
- 10 to 15 drops of peppermint essential oils
- 8 to 12 ounces of water
- spray bottle
- dish washing liquid (optional)
Step By Step Instructions
Step 1.
Take your spray bottle, and drop up to 15 drops
of the peppermint essential oil.
Step 2.
Add the water and shake well.
Step 3.
That’s all! Your all natural repellent is ready! 🙂
How To Use? Just spray your repellent around all your door frames, any small cracks, windows, the corners of your ceilings and your bathrooms. If you are getting a lot of beading with your spray, you can add the dish washing liquid and that will solve that problem for you.
You can also use other essential oils such as citrus or lavender and even garlic, but generally the mint ones have been proven to work better. This simple solution has done wonders for us, I hope it does the same for you. Good luck! 🙂
