Homemade Shower Melts

As I have always said, just because we live off the grid and on the homestead, does not mean we have to take a pass on all of life’s luxuries. That is why we made the homemade bubble bath and homemade therapeutic bath salts in earlier posts. If you have a shower in your home, you just have to try these homemade shower melts.

The recipe below incorporates lavender essential oil, but that does not mean you cannot use your favorite one instead. Besides the oils, there is only two other ingredients needed to make these inexpensive melts. When it’s shower time, you can place one or two of these on the floor for a sensational aroma filled session. It takes about 10 to 20 minutes to make a batch of melts.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Alright, so the first stage of the process is to mix the corn starch with your essential oils. The best way to do this is in the mixing bowl. If you are going to add any food coloring, that will go in next, before you slowly start adding drops of water to mixture.

Make sure you mix well as you add the water. The mixture should turn from crumbly into a thick paste. The paste is what is then loaded into the ice cube tray, smoothed out flat and placed in the freezer for at least 60 minutes to allow it to set. The melts can be stored in an air tight container or in your freezer. Enjoy the ‘melting’ shower! 🙂
