After our last DIY project, I thought it would be wise to feature a fun diy project this time around, lest you start labeling me as ‘boring’. This one is line with projects such as the diy t-shirt tote bag , diy t-shirt shoelaces and the diy towel teddy bear. Are you ready to learn how to turn a towel into a beach bag.

I have been using my sewing machine more often these days, and that makes the initial investment worth it. I am still learning to use it, so this easy project is just perfect in that regard. Why go buy a beach bag, when you can just easily make your own personalized one? Yeah, that is exactly what I said too. LOL

Here’s What You’ll Need:

• beach towel
• cotton webbing
• sewing machine
• thread
• sewing pins
• scissors

Depending on the size the towel, draw and cut out the bag. I just copied the 20″ X 16″ dimensions. As for the seam I was able to leave out an extra 1/2″. Sew the fabric from the reverse side all the way around except for the top of the bag. Any leftover seam should be trimmed and removed.

Then you can move on to the attaching the strap, first pin it in place and then sew it on. It has to be a strong stitch such as the box stitch which allows you to sew over the same area a couple of times. When you think your strap is on securely, your bag is done.
