DIY PVC Hand Pump

Have you ever wanted to pump something out of a barrel or drum around the homestead and could never figure out how to go about it. You may want to try this diy PVC hand pump for that job.

He built his to help him pump out water that had collected in rain barrels. The main shafts are made from PVC pipe including the check valves which you can purchase from a local hardware store.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 3/4 inch PVC pipe
  • wood dowel rod
  • old rubber sandal
  • PVC T joint
  • check valves
  • wood screws
  • hand drill
  • saw
  • utility knife or scissors
  • PVC cement (optional)

This is a pretty easy diy project. Once you cut the PVC and the rubber gasket, you are pretty much done. All that will be left to do is to assemble everything together and your pump is ready.

Follow the instructions when aligning your check valves, they only go on one way. To use the pump insert the intake into the drum and then pump the piston up and down.
