DIY Mason Bee Habitat

We all love and enjoy eating honey and fruits, this alone should be enough to motivate you to look after the bees. In earlier posts on this blog, I have shown you how to build a diy beehive in a jar, diy warre beehive and even this how to extract honey from a beehive. I recently found an easier option, try this diy mason bee habitat.

Mason bees help with pollination, but they do not sting. By building these simple habitats, you will be able to protect them as their numbers are rapidly decreasing worldwide. Everything needed for this project, should be readily available on most homesteads. The only things you may have to buy is the paint and the bamboo pieces. Technically this project should take just a few minutes to setup, however waiting for the paint to dry is what extends the required time.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Usually when building something, you are told to start with the foundation, right? Well for this habitat you start by painting the outside. If you are using the two suggested colors, you start with the yellow, allow it to dry and then paint on the black. Next, is the hanging assembly which consists of two holes and the string. You finish off the habitat by inserting the bamboo pieces inside, and then find a tree to hang the ‘house’. That’s it! 🙂
