It is really amazing how many different herbs I have managed to grow recently. It is all thanks to the many different planters from the diy herb garden spiral, to the hanging herb garden planter and even the mason jar herb planter. It is nice to be able to easily grow your herbs both indoors and outdoors with this diy cinder block herb planter.
Most herb planters are easy to erect, and this one is no different. All it takes is simply arranging the blocks in the recommended formation. Feel free to tweak a few blocks, if that suits you. This is also an affordable project, especially if you have access to the blocks.

Here’s What You’ll Need:
- cinder blocks
- potting soil
- herb seedlings
- paint (optional)
- construction glue (optional)
The perfect place to locate this planter is in a nice sunny corner. Use the picture above to guide you on how to lay the bricks. You can use construction glue to secure the blocks in place, if you like. I just laid the bricks and filled holes the with potting soil.
Then all that was left was to plant the herbs, and give them a good watering. Feel free to decorate your planter with different color designs. I don’t mind the cinder block look, in fact I actually find it very attractive. Hence I left mine looking ‘au naturel’. 🙂
