Our garden is in an open area which is pretty close to a wooded area that we haven’t cleared yet. One of the problems we have are wild rabbits coming out of the woods to eat our produce. I have been a looking for a solution to this problem and I think this diy box rabbit trap will do the trick.
This looks like a pretty easy project, which you can build with any type of wood. We have some left over plywood from previous projects, so that is what we will use. I understand the trigger system is the tricky part, I will delegate that to the hubby. He should be able to figure it out, love you too! lol
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Here’s What You’ll Need:
- plywood or pine planks
- uprights
- runners
- trigger rocker arm
- hardware cloth
- paracord or cord
- wood nails or screws
- hammer or hand held drill
- tape measure
- jig saw
- apple slices or carrots
Before you can get started, you will need to make your cuts. Make sure your measurements are correct before cutting your wood. Long boards will make the sides, the top is the shorter board. The hardware cloth goes to the back and you need to drill a hole in the center of the top board.
The runners go on next, to make the track for the door to slide up and down. Then the handle or pivot for the trigger arm, before finally installing the trigger itself. The paracord will hold the door and the rocker arm. When complete you can put your apple slices in the back and set the trigger system.
