When you are living off grid, sometimes simple things like ice may become a luxury. That is why I think this solar ice maker, is an awesome idea.

It was designed by students from San Jose State University and uses the sun’s heat to trigger a chemical reaction that then makes the ice.

Ice is only made once the sunsets and this machine can produce almost 14 pounds of ice every single day.

Unlike other ice makers that need a compressor to make ice, this one has no moving parts the whole system is sealed and uses solar energy only.
