Train chickens? What? Yes you read right the title of this post right! If like me you are wondering why one has to train their chickens and whether it is even possible to so, then keep reading.

So I found out today that I could train my chickens, so that they can easily enter their coop at night or even when you need to check on their health. As a kid we used to chase chickens for hours and that was very tiring. Thank god training them is way easier.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

• metal or plastic tub (or tin)
• chicken treats

The container you choose is your treat box, it should be able to rattle when the treats inside are given a good shake. The selection of your treats is also very important, they have to be something the chickens enjoy but which is not part of their regular feed.

With your treat shaker in hand, enter your coop and shake the tin whilst dropping some treats on the ground for the chickens. It will take a few days of repeating this same routine before your chickens become comfortable and start approaching you at the sound of the shaker.
