How To Root Tomato Plants In 7 Days

Oh yes, it is definitely no secret that growing tomatoes is one of my favorite things to do in the garden. In the past I have told you about how to de-sucker tomato plants. What if I told you that you can use the cuttings from your tomato plants for rooting more plants in less than a week?

It is not magic either, nor is it a complicated process. In fact if you have water and a growing plant you can do easily do this. The advantage is that rooting tomatoes this way is faster than growing seedlings from seeds, so you can easily multiply your plants in one season with less effort. Yay!

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • tomato plants
  • glass jar
  • water
  • rooting hormone (optional)

So the process itself is pretty simple, instead of throwing away the suckers from the plants, you just put them in a glass jar filled with water. This glass jar has to be placed by a sunny window and within a few days you should start to see roots growing out of the cuttings.

You can then go ahead and remove the cuttings from the glass jar and transplant them either in your garden or in a container. Water the cutting adding any natural fertilizer or compost. This should be enough to give you another batch of tomato plants, in the same season.
