How To Grow Purple Sun Carrots

Sometimes I love to experiment with different varieties of popular vegetables in the garden. This year I will attempt to grow purple sun carrots in addition to the normal variety.

This variety can be grown anytime between March and July. The seeds are planted directly into your garden in rows 12-16 inches apart and normally take up to 21 days to germinate.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

They say the secret to a good carrot crop is the preparation of the soil before you plant the seeds. The soil should be tilled when dry to about 16″ in depth and your compost worked into it.

Keep an eye out for carrot fly maggots and other blights. They will be ready to harvest in about 90 days at which time they have a very bright color. Water well just before you harvest your carrots.
