How To Grow Olive Trees

Not everyone enjoys olives, it is one of those acquired tastes. I love them, and today I did a little research on how to grow olive trees at home to see if it was possible.

The good news is that, even if you cannot grow your tree outside in your area, you can still grow it in a container and move it indoors during the winter months.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • olive tree seedling or seed
  • container
  • plant fertilizer
  • fast draining potting soil
  • gravel

Regular pruning and watering is recommended for your container olive trees. Fertilize bi-monthly in the Spring and Summer, monthly in the Fall. Water less frequently in the fall too.

Did you know? Olive trees do not produce any fruit during the first four to six years? Also, they can survive for up to 500 years, growing as tall as 50 feet tall and 30 feet wide.
