Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • garlic cloves
  • water
  • small container
  • larger container
  • potting soil
  • compost
  • wire mesh

Separate each head of garlic into cloves, and place them with the root end down into a small plastic container with about an inch of water. Place the the container in an area that receives a lot of sunlight and allow about 7 days for the sprouts to appear. Garlic sprouts grow very fast so do not be alarmed.

Transplant to a larger pot with drainage holes on the bottom as soon as possible. Or else your garlic will start to rot in the water. Fill your container with potting soil and some compost. Plant your garlic 1 to 2 inches deep and water at least once a week. Your garlic will be ready for harvest in about 90 to 120 days.
