How To Grow A Banana Tree From Seed

When it comes to growing things from seeds, bananas rank high up on one of the difficult ones to get to germinate. We have grown olive trees from seeds already and grown kiwi fruit from seeds too. Then I found another guy online who has figured out how to grow banana trees from seed.

Here is the kicker, those little black specks you see in the banana when you cut it through the middle. Surprise, surprise those are not the seeds. So if you have been trying to grow your banana tree from those, now you know why they did not germinate. Silly goose. LOL

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • banana seeds
  • paper towel
  • air tight plastic container
  • spray bottle
  • water
  • small container
  • potting mix

The easiest way to get some banana seeds is to buy them online. Most people are surprised by the size of these seeds, I mean even I was. These things are huge. Fold the seeds in a paper towel, wet the towel using your spray bottle and then store it in the air tight container.

Make sure you keep the paper towel moist, and within a few weeks your seed should begin to sprout. Carefully transplant your sprouted seeds into the small container with potting mix. Water well and let it sit in a location that gets some good sunshine. Transplant to a bigger pot, when it out grows the small one.
