How To Freeze Avocados

ou are probably wondering can you freeze avocados? I love and enjoy my avocados, however I get pretty annoyed at how fast they go bad, especially if your avocado tree just decides to give you plenty. I maybe wrong but I do not think you can can avocados, so I just do the next best thing now which is to freeze my avocados.

You do not require any special equipment to do this. You can even use those avocados that very ripe, and try give them a few more months of life. It is better than throwing them away after they have gone bad, right? You can use frozen avocados for pretty much anything from guacamole, avocado spreads, baby food, smoothies to just having it by itself.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • fresh avocados
  • lemon juice
  • ziploc bags
  • fork
  • large bowl
  • knife

Unfortunately, it is not recommended that you freeze your avocados whole or even in halves. You will have to open them up, remove the pit and then scoop the fleshy contents into a bowl. Use the fork to mash up the avocado into a puree and then add one teaspoon of lemon juice for each one.

After you have mixed well, you can then stuff the mixture into ziplock bags. Try keep it to a maximum of two avocados per bag, in order to reduce the thawing time when you need to use them. Store in the freezer for 3 to 6 months, thaw for 24 hours in refrigerator before use.
