How To Build A Plastic Bucket Outhouse

Sometimes you just have to keep things simple and basic. This is exactly what this diy 5 gallon plastic bucket outhouse essentially does.

This family was able to build a semi private place to take care of their business without having to build a complicated set up. The hardest part of this project would probably be the main frame and roof.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 5 gallon plastic buckets
  • wood chips
  • toilet seat
  • trash can
  • poles
  • tarp
  • corrugated sheets
  • 2×4 plywood
  • hammer
  • wood screws or nails
  • trash liners

Find an area outback that is downwind to locate your outhouse. You will need four holes for your frame’s poles. Once the poles are in the ground, you can then go ahead and install the roof.

The tarp is then wrapped around the frame and fixed in place using nails. Your two buckets and the trash can are placed within, each with liners in them. After you have done your business you cover it with wood chips and close the the lid tightly. Guess what they do with the bucket when its full?
