How To Build A Dog House

Ok, so we woke up this morning and after some crazy winds last night, our poor dog’s house did not stand a chance. Well, since we have pretty much built every other single structure on the homestead from the chicken coop to the duck house. A quick search on Google, I discovered how to build a dog house.

As with most projects around here, we are going to take re-purpose most of the materials. However, if you are not so fortunate then a quick dash to the local hardware store will be needed. I will let the hubby take the lead on this one, I am not a fan of the jig saw. He he heee. This house will be big enough for any size dog.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • outdoor wood screws
  • plywood sheets
  • power drill
  • level
  • jigsaw
  • saw
  • exterior paint (optional)
  • paint brushes or rollers

The first step as with most project is to measure and cut your pieces using the jigsaw. Then you start with the foundation, in this case its the base of the dog house. When you follow the plans, they tell you which piece to attach to which piece. After the base comes the side walls.

Once the side walls are up, the back wall is next followed by the roof. The back roof peak wall is screwed on and then you move to the front wall, and then the entrance. We are going to leave ours unpainted for now, but feel free to paint yours.
