Homemade Strawberry Freezer Jam Recipe

Jam is almost a staple for my daughter Kylie, she cannot have her toast in the morning without jam on it. I have made homemade jam for her with no pectin, and the strawberry honey jam she loves both. Yesterday I ran into this homemade strawberry freezer jam recipe, which I will be trying soon too.

What I love about it? It is almost 100% natural and fresh, the strawberries never have to be cooked. It also should not take too much time, maybe a maximum of 30 minutes to make, that all depends on the quantities of strawberries you are trying to make into jam, of course. Also no canning system is needed for this, although the jam is stored in mason jars.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • fresh strawberries
  • sugar
  • sure jell fruit pectin
  • water
  • mason jars
  • sharp knife
  • cutting board
  • large bowl
  • food processor or blender
  • saucepan
  • funnel

First and foremost, you need to wash and rinse almost everything you will be using including the berries, jars and their lids. After cutting up your strawberries, you will throw them into the food processor to just crush them, without puree-ing them. In a large bowl, you can mix the crushed strawberries and the sugar, and leave them to sit for about 10 minutes.

Meanwhile you will need to dissolve your pectin in water, in a saucepan. Boiling for about a a minute before you remove from the heat and add to the large bowl. The sugar has to be completely dissolved before, you can transfer the jam to the mason jars using the funnel.

Do not fill the jars to the top, you have to leave at least half an inch from the rim. After screwing the lids on, leave the jars on kitchen counter for about 24 hours before transferring them to your fridge. In the freezer it will store for up to 12 months, in your normal fridge area you should enjoy it within 21 days.
