Homemade Raspberry Jam Recipe

Although not one of my favorite berries, I do enjoy some fresh raspberries. Somehow this season, I ended up with a whole bunch of fresh raspberries, I don’t want to freeze them so will try this homemade raspberry jam recipe instead.

I found a recipe that does not require pectin, which is good news. I never liked adding that stuff into my all natural jam mix. This process is more of a canning process than anything.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • fresh, perfectly ripe raspberries
  • regular granulated sugar
  • canning jars
  • new canning lids
  • canning rings
  • 2 large stock pots
  • jar tongs
  • potato masher
  • small plate or saucer

There is some prep work required before you begin making your jam. Your small plate has to go into the freezer and your jars plus lids need to be sterilized either inside the dishwasher or large canning pot.

Crush your raspberries to your desired consistency, chunky or smooth. Then you add the sugar before heating the mixture. When the jam looks gooey and passes the freezer saucer test, it is ready for canning.
