Homemade Orange Jam Recipe

What do you do with a whole bunch of sour oranges? Well read on for the perfect solution. I know you are probably thinking this post is about homemade marmalade jam but you will be wrong. This post is actually about this homemade orange jam I found on the internet the other day.

What is the difference? This particular recipe does not add the orange peels into the jam. I know I mentioned sour oranges before, but you can actually use any type of oranges to make this. You also have the option to store this jam in your fridge or can it for long term storage.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • oranges
  • low sugar pectin
  • raw organic cane sugar
  • lemon juice (optional)
  • knife
  • ladle
  • cutting board
  • large pot
  • small bowl
  • canning jars
  • water bath canner (optional)

Wash your oranges and peel them. Chop them into small small chunks on the cutting board before adding them to the large pot. If you are adding any lemon juice, then go ahead and do so before you add the sugar and pectin mixture. Stir over high heat until you reach a rolling boil.

The rest of the sugar goes in before, you let the contents of the pot boil for about 60 seconds. At this time you can remove from heat and allow to cool a bit before you start to fill your jars with the jam. If you are going to can them, then this will be the time to process the jars in your water bath canner.
